LIGA der Freien Wohlfahrtspflege in Rheinland-Pfalz e.V.: From person to person

The “LIGA der Freien Wohlfahrtspflege in Rheinland-Pfalz e.V.” (League of charitable organisations in Rhineland-Palatinate) is a union, which the head associations of charitable organisations in Rhineland-Palatinate founded as a collective working platform. It advocates humane living and working conditions and a just society. The collective goal of the welfare associations is the protection and further development of social work through social initiatives and socio-political activities.

The LIGA der Freien Wohlfahrtspflege in Rheinland-Pfalz e.V. has existed since 1950. It is a voluntary, pluralistic, conglomerated working community involving Workers’ Welfare, Caritas, German Red Cross, the Diakonie and Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband in Rhineland-Palatinate.

The LIGA der Freien Wohlfahrtspflege works for all those who require help, not least thanks to its numerous volunteer helpers. The spectrum of help services ranges from kindergartens to debt counselling centres and old age care facilities.  Furthermore, the LIGA der Freien Wohlfahrtspflege places itself where it can operate together with civic actors such as hospitals, municipal peak bodies, health insurance funds and politics.
