Studentenwerk München: Munich Student Union – A competent partner for your studies

The Munich Student Union is responsible for 13 universities and therefore for around 120,000 students in Upper Bavaria. With 640 employees it provides services that are indispensable to students and thus makes an essential contribution to the university system.

Munich Student Union offers around 11,000 living spaces in its housing complexes, serves around four million meals in its canteens and supports almost 15,000 students according to the German Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG). Additionally, the Student Union operates an extensive advisory network, coordinates 21 day care centres with almost 500 places and offers a varied tutor programme as well as a diverse cultural programme.

In collaboration with the local universities, the Student Union helps to improve and maintain the social infrastructure and actively shapes the universities’ environment. The Munich Student Union maintains partnerships with the French student union CROUS de Lyon, with the Tongji University in Shanghai and other international alliances. It is also a member of the Paritätische Wohlfahrtsverband – Landesverband Bayern e.V. (Parity Welfare Organisation – State Association Bavaria), of the Studentenhilfe München e.V.
