Following the fall of the Berlin Wall, the establishment of the Berlin International School in 1998 was a logical step towards Berlin becoming a metropolis that met the needs of its global comunity.
What distinguishes successful global citizens in the 21st century? They are curious, competent, knowledgeable, sophisticated, insightful, courageous, prepared to compromise, considerate, of strong character and even-tempered. They have their eyes on the big picture and are forthcoming. These and other learning goals have been formulated and are promoted by the internationally-recognised International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme, which is used to educate global citizens at Berlin International School – a multicultural school community, united by a common world-view.
