Since its formation, the Halle City Works Department has become an efficient infrastructural, logistics and service association, and today it is one of the strongest commercial organizations in Eastern Germany. With 2,512 employees and apprentices/trainees, the Halle City Works Department is the biggest commercial employer in the city on the river Saale and the largest municipal utilities company in Saxony-Anhalt.
The company group offers all services of municipal utilities from a single source, combined with a large number of services which have a positive influence on both Halle’s functioning and on its quality of life. Reliable supply and disposal services and supplementary services as well as local public transport are the Department’s fundamental contributions to a growing quality of life in Halle. The Halle City Works Department is present everywhere in the city – it is active in city marketing and conversion, looking after schools, promoting sports and science and related projects which give Halle a greater profile as the cultural capital of Saxony-Anhalt. Many of the Department’s employees are involved in clubs and citizens’ groups in an honorary capacity and carry the Department’s message into everyday life in Halle and the surrounding region.
