The city of Bautzen is able to look back on more than 1000 years of history. In its twelve commercial and industry regions one can today rely on modern infrastructure and speedy management.
In addition to those newly relocating here, middle sized industry has developed at an above average rate. Not the least due to the very good networking there. Particularly high levels of local competencies with a presence in Bautzen exist in the areas of rail and vehicle construction, in the building assembly industry, in IT and SAP services, in plant, tool and mould construction, in the processing of plastics, in engineering services and in the food industry. By covering such a broad spectrum, these commercial and industrial firms have been able to defy the crises of recent years. Current figures verify the success story: in Bautzen there are over 674 jobs per 1,000 inhabitants. Each year Bautzen’s volume of delivery and production has a total value of more than 1.5 billion Euro, coming from 1,400 firms – a tremendous achievement and far above the average in Saxony. This success also finds its way into other areas of life. There are hence also several museums, libraries, daycare centres, schools, 250 clubs and a lively old town centre showing great skill and workmanship in its renovation. Bautzen is on the road to success. For those interested in the city, the Office of Economic Promotion gladly makes itself available to help you at any time.
