Public transport strengthens Germany as the mobility location

The Association of German Transport Companies is the sector association for public transport. VDV is dedicated to the diversity of services in this sector, to lastingly strengthen and secure Germany as mobility location. The association is actively committed to its almost 600 members involved in public transport and rail freight transport and represents their interests in politics, the public, business and in research.

Every day, 30 million people in Germany use the short-distance public transport (Öffentlichen Personennahverkehr – ÖPNV); more than in any other EU member state. This cannot be accomplished without efficient transport companies and without the constant development of the services in ÖPNV. Rail freight transport, as an efficient transportation system, also secures the interconnection of business locations in Germany and thereby promotes the export-oriented economy and ensures the connection of the location to the EU and the global markets.

The VDV supports sustainable mobility by strengthening public transport in Germany. This primarily requires a secured financing and appropriate legal framework conditions for companies in the passenger and rail freight transport business.
