The Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg (OVGU) is one of the youngest universities in Germany. Since its foundation, the University has established itself as a modern and dynamic specialised university and holds top positions in rankings for research and teaching. This makes the campus located in the heart of the state capital an attractive place for students and scientists from around the world.
14,000 students from over 90 countries learn, research and live at the OVGU. The University focuses on excellence in the areas of neurological sciences, dynamic systems and automotive. With more than 90 innovative courses – some of which are unique in Germany – such as computational visualistics, cultural engineering or biosystems engineering, the nine faculties attract thousands of new students each year. The professors at the University are not only excellent at imparting their knowledge, they are the ones who pave the way for future careers. Thus, students have outstanding opportunities when it comes to founding a successful company upon graduation. Top-class institutions from the Max Planck Society and Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft as well as the Leibniz Association are located in the immediate vicinity of the campus and are part of a close-knit network of university-based research and innovative product development.
