Johann Garhammer founded the Modehaus Garhammer as a colonial goods store in Waldkirchen in 1896, and textiles were added in 1897. “People and fashion” have been the main focus of the company’s philosophy since the beginning. The family business is not only one of the biggest employers with approximately 450 employees but also deeply ingrained in the region. With a good grasp of future trends, Garhammer offers a wide-ranging assortment, which encompasses medium entry-level prices and international labels of the premium segment. High-class collections for ladies, men, children and young fashion as well as an exclusive assortment of shoes, bags and accessories are staged in a unique ambience on around 9.000 square metres. The outstanding service culture is also regarded as a unique selling point, which customers appreciate: over 50 per cent of customers travel more than 35 km to visit the store. They also come from regions situated close to the border of Upper Austria and the Czech Republic. Commitment that is worth its while: the “Store of the Year 2014” award was presented to Garhammer for its consistent and perfect redesign of its sales area as well as for the integration of the gourmet restaurant “Johanns”. In addition, the company was nominated for the “World Retail Awards” as one of the six best houses of its kind in the world in Paris in September 2014.
