Airbus is one of the leading manufacturers of aircraft boasting the most sophisticated and comprehensive product range on the market. Since its entry into the market at the beginning of the seventies, Airbus has delivered more than 3.000 aircraft. Order volume at present amounts to around 1.500 airplanes.
Being the largest Airbus work in Germany, Hamburg participates in development, construction and production of all Airbus airliners. In the Hanse town, the A318, A319 and A321 reach their final assembly lines. Moreover, fuselage assembly of all airplanes and their equipment with complete flight-crucial systems takes place here. The interior equipment of A320, A300 and A310 is also executed on the Elbe River. Hamburg will grow increasingly in the coming years into a competence centre for passenger cabins. Furthermore, this business location disposes of extensive testing facilities, which are suitable for static and dynamic testing among other things.
Airbus in Germany also plays a major role in the development, production and final assembly of the A380. For the realisation of these tasks, Airbus in Hamburg is creating around 2.000 workplaces. More than 1.300 additionell staff members have already been employed for the A380 programme. Further locations are in Bremen, Nordenham, Varel, Stade, Buxtehude and Laupheim.
