The Korean brand Hyundai has developed constantly since entering the market at the IAA in 1991, and is currently the second-strongest import brand in Germany. Hyundai Motor Deutschland has been a 100 per cent subsidiary of the Hyundai Motor Company since 2012 and is responsible for sales and marketing. 2012 saw sales break through the 100,000 mark for the first time. The company is currently the world’s fourth-largest automotive manufacturer. Customers attest to Hyundai’s attractive designs, high quality and excellent price-performance ratio. The following facts show just how important Germany is as a location for Hyundai: the company has brought together all its German and European sales, research and development activities in Hesse: Offenbach is home to the German and European headquarters. The Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Center – responsible for design and development in Europe – is located in Rüsselsheim. 95 per cent of the models sold in Europe are designed and developed here; over 90 per cent of these vehicles are built in the Czech Republic and Turkey. Another site of the Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Center was opened in 2013, with the Test Center at the Nürburgring.
