Over the past decades, construction processes have become infinitely more complex. This may be attributed in particular to the mechanisation of buildings. Just 20 years ago, construction sites were mainly supervised by the architect as the ‘master builder’, with the support of the building services. This is becoming increasingly difficult for large-scale projects, which is why, in 1998, the founders of Gassmann + Grossmann Baumanagement GmbH (g²) decided to specialise in site supervision. They coined their slogan of “Thinking beforehand about afterwards”.
It was on the basis of this approach that integral construction management came into being, today a byword for one-stop service. g², whose core competence lies in supervising large-scale projects throughout Germany, has since expanded both its expertise and its human resources for technical facilities. The merger with a prestigious engineering office lent significant momentum to the company’s focus on the specialised supervision of technical building systems, which has now been in place for several years. The growing demand can now be met by its own personnel, while the twin competencies in technical building systems and architectural constructive services complement each other perfectly. Depending on the objectives of the project, g² is able to put together an interdisciplinary team with the necessary qualifications and ensure quality control of the preliminary work. This accommodates the clients’ preference of only dealing with one contact person who is in charge of supervising all on-site construction and technical services. Fewer interfaces mean increased efficiency and cost effectiveness. Even during the tender stage, great emphasis is placed on implementation, taking the construction process, which follows the principles of lean management, into consideration. This ensures that the project works towards the commissioning phase from the outset.
Thanks to internal training, during which colleagues pass their specialist knowledge on to each other, staff expertise is enhanced across the board. The client’s requirements are executed professionally and cost-effectively, while purposefully realising the architect’s creative vision by means of sound workmanship.
The company offers its services beyond the regional borders of Baden-Württemberg, with specialists providing on-site support at building sites throughout Germany. This has substantial advantages for the architects, as fewer changes are needed, as well as for the general contractor, as it guarantees cost control.
