Edelstahlbau Tannroda GmbH, or EST, operates in two forward looking areas of business. At its plant in Tannroda, it produces complex stainless steel components, which are used in all kinds of industry such as the pharmaceutical industry as plant and containers for the production of coating liquids, serums, tablet bases and ointments. The company is also market leader in Germany in the manufacturing of volumetric equipment for measuring pump flow-rates, such as petrol pumps at petrol stations and tanker trucks and also in the dairy industry. As a further unique selling point, EST also produces plants which are used to treat paper and printing products. This equipment was also used to treat the fire damaged books after the fire at the Duchess Anna Amalia Library in Weimar in 2004. The State Library in Paris and the City Library in Bern are other well-known customers, as are the national archives and treatment centres.
The company’s second area of business is in Ilmenau. This plant processes graphite and graphite felt for use in quartz glass smelting, glass processing and recasting, research and high-temperature processes.
