With its headquarters in Helmstedt, E.ON Avacon AG is one of the largest regional network operators and infrastructure service providers in Germany. Its network area covers over 22,000 square kilometres in central and eastern Niedersachsen as well as large portions of the north and central regions of Sachsen-Anhalt. With more than 54,000 km of high, medium and low voltage cables and a natural gas network stretching over 17,000 km, E.ON Avacon provides roughly 2.2 million people in its network area with energy. Nearly 2,000 people currently work for E.ON Avacon at more than a dozen locations. This includes over 180 apprentices that are being trained in various technical and commercial occupations.
About 80 local shareholders hold a combined 30.3 per cent stake in E.ON Avacon and help strengthen the company’s regional ties.
Over the last ten years, the company has invested over 1.2 billion euros in infrastructure that helps ensure a reliable supply of energy to the region. As a network operator, E.ON Avacon manages a significant amount of electricity generated from renewable energies. This development requires new network concepts. E.ON Avacon is a pioneer in the search for innovative and efficient solutions with such programs as its e-Home energy project 2020.
